Christmas For The Shelter Pups #ILoveMyK9

Remember a little over a week ago how I posted a sneak peek here about shopping for a puppy prep kit to donate? Well this weekend we dropped off all the yummy treats and fun toys {pictured above} to a local no kill animal shelter I frequently visit and donate to. When we visited this weekend most of their little puppies were already adopted. {Lucky pups!} The shelter volunteer said the young puppies have been going really fast since many families give them as Christmas gifts.

While we were there we got to spend one on one time with some older puppies and give them fun toys and treats. {Boy did they love it} It was nice to play “Santa” and see how much they enjoyed the attention and their new toys. I’ve taken the kids with me other times however we usually visit the dogs with them still in their kennels and pet ones that are out on a walk in the court yard. So this was big fun stuff to get to play with the pups in our own private room.

After we spent one on one time with our new furry friends we went out and gave all the other pups in the shelter a treat. {They really loved the Pup-Peroni} While giving the treats we took our time reading their stories posted on their kennel and the kids told each and everyone how cute they are. {We love animals}  After we visited with all the pups we spent time visiting all the cats, they have a huge room where the cats roam free. Before we knew it the lights were getting shut off and they were locking up for the night so we said our goodbyes until next time. Of course though a trip to the shelter wouldn’t be a trip without the usual “Can we please take this one home???” Even though we would love to adopt a puppy we have four kitties at home that keep us on our toes. So we left empty handed and our hearts full.

Another heart-warming story. Thanks so much for remembering our four-legged friends, especially at this time of year. (Your picture of the little faces looking out of the pens nearly broke my heart. I want to adopt them all!)

  5. This is just so sweet. I think it is great that you spend time there–I know that is especially important for the dogs. I get so sad when I think of animals without forever homes.

That is fabulous! You made those doggies’ days! Although I am in an apartment now and dogs are not in my immediate future, I have always been a rescue owner in the past! They love you so much more than other dogs. You did a good thing here!
