Purex Baby Detergent Review & Giveaway

Purex has come out with a new line of detergent designed with babies in mind! It gets out the toughest stains {like formula and spit up} and even though it is designed with babies in mind it is tough enough to get out those hard kid stains as well {like juice, ketchup and mud}.

Have you ever noticed, baby/kid’s stains are tougher to get out? I do not know what it is, but something about those stains are so tough to come out! Dino Girl and Sir Buddy both have their favorite foods that cause the worst stains! I sometimes dread throwing their favorite outfits in the washer, in fear that those stains just won’t come out! We were very excited to put Purex Baby Detergent to the test in our house!

A few things you ought to know:

  • Purex Baby is dermatologist-tested
  • It is hypoallergenic and safe for baby’s delicate skin
  • Purex Baby delivers the same bright, white clean you expect from Purex.
  • It guarantees to remove stubborn stains without hurting all those delicate pieces of     clothing
  • It can be used in any washing machine (High Efficiency, or traditional top loaders)
  • As parents we already spend a fortune on baby items (diapers, formula, wipes) we don’t need to spend a fortune in finding a detergent that takes out the stains and keeps those cute little outfits safe.

Let’s Put Purex Baby to the Test:

Dino Girl and Sir Buddy have a couple of favorite outfits! They want to wear these outfits almost every day and night, and by the end of the day they look like they have gone through the ringer a couple of times.

Dino Girl loves her princess Hello Kitty outfit, it is super cute, her favorite color and super soft! Sir Buddy has his favorite train shirt that he absolutely loves to wear everywhere. After a long day of playing, eating, and tons of other kid related activities, their clothes look like they have seen much better days!

How Did It Do?

Purex Baby seemed to keep up with all those tough kid’s stains, plus it smells AWESOME! Dino Girl’s favorite Hello Kitty outfit came out of the washer looking almost new! I didn’t think that it would ever be the same. The stains were all gone and the outfit looked brighter then it did when it went into the washer. She was thrilled to put the outfit back on for another day!

Sir Buddy’s train shirt has seen better days (it went in to the washer full of stains, food, dirt and paint) it came out of the washer, looking brighter, the food and dirt were gone. But, the paint stains were still there (which we totally expected)!

I think Purex Baby did a great job getting the kid’s clothes clean, leaving them brighter, and smelling great! I also love that it is sensitive for their delicate skin!

Wait There’s More:

Disney Princess Royal Ball App

Do you have a Disney Princess fan in your household? We sure do! So we were excited to recently hear about the free princess app from Disney. The Disney Princess Royal Ball app is fun, interactive and perfect for your little princess {or prince}.

When you first click on the app you are taken through an intro before arriving at the landing page. On the landing page you are given three choices of what to do: design your princess outfit, make your own custom carriage, and head to the royal ball. In order to head to the royal ball you must first design your princess outfit.{of course} The fun thing about this is not only do you get to design your outfit using dresses & accessories from Disney princesses but once your done you can take a picture of your child wearing it.

Next it’s time to design your own custom carriage to ride in to the royal ball. This was fun since you can mix and match different styles to make your perfect one. After it’s complete you can also take your picture inside the carriage. Miss. A took a picture of Henry James {our cat} even riding in it. {haha}

Once you have designed your perfect princess outfit and carriage it is time to head to the ball. This was by far the family favorite. Even though my degree is in technology I am still amazed by the awesomely fun things devices and apps can do. The kiddos were able dance around the room and the screen recognized that they were dancing so the screen changed in the directions they moved. {Really neat! huh?!} Even as an adult I enjoyed sitting with Miss.A playing this fun new app with her.

Need a second opinion before you download the app? Here is Miss. A’s mini review…

“I’m Miss.A and I love Disney Princess Royal Ball app! It was free yay! You could actually dance with your iPad or iPhone. You could make your own princess with the app. I did! I put my face in the princess and I was a princess without buying any princess costumes. No money yay! Although I do have some princess costumes. Oh and you can make your own carriage so you can ride in it to the royal ball. I loved that app, only one thing I didn’t like about it was when I danced and twirled, I felt dizzy. But besides all that it was amazing! We turned King Henry James {the cat} into a royal princess. He was so beautiful! Even Mr.N wanted to try it even though he’s a boy. So this is what I thought of he app… amazing fantastic and a dream come true to be a princess. They had princess’s like Snow White, Cinderella, Bell and more! I think this app would be perfect for any wanna be dream come true princess, like ages 3 and up. Even though I’m 10 I love this app so much. And here’s a secret I wanna be a princess even though I’m 10. And on the outside I’m all cool and don’t like princesses but on the inside I love them so much! I want to be Ariel!”

After playing with the app this got Miss.A inspired to start her {second} Christmas list. Which of course included princess items. {to see a whole list of Disney items visit walmart.com}  So once the list was in hand I headed to Walmart to do some last minute Christmas shopping this week. {To come along on the adventure check out my google plus story here.} The number one item on the list was the Mattel Cinderella MagiClip Castle plus another big item! However you will have to wait till next week to see more of what was purchased and more.

Ever Clean Cat Litter & Meow Mix Wet Food Review

With a multiple cat household finding litter and food they all like can be tough. So we are always up to try new products out to see how the kitties {and us humans} like them.  With that in mind last week we headed to Petsmart to pick up a new litter and some food for a holiday treat.

As always we took Henry {he’s our traveler and out going one} and also took Ferb for his 2nd ever shopping trip. With the boys in their bow ties it was time to start shopping, we checked out the litter section to pick up a new litter {our current one’s scent is way too strong for my liking} and the wet food section. If you’ve ever been to Petsmart then you know that the litter section is much like the food section, there are tons of brands & types to choose from. One litter brand that we’ve never tried however have thought about a few times was Ever Clean. They have a variety of options to choose from and have been around for a long time. We ended up picking up a box of their Multiple Cat to try out after doing some online research {thank goodness for Smartphones} and box comparing. We also picked up a couple things of Meow Mix wet food for the kitties to have a special treat for Thanksgiving.With those items in the cart off we went to checked out the toys, clothes, and like always we had to stop at the bird cages {Henry loves to watch the birds} before heading home. {click here to see more photos from our day}

When we got home we got the litter box all cleaned out and ready for the Ever Clean. Unlike other multiple cat litters we’ve had in the past I was glad the scent wasn’t so overpowering. Getting a litter box around is no fun when you have to hold your breath! The litter appeared to be a similar texture to other brands we’ve had, so I felt confident that the kitties would feel comfortable going in it. {we recently tried a new litter that one of the boys wouldn’t even step onto the litter since the texture was so different.} A litter that will hold up to four cats is a hard find, however even harder is to find one that they will all go in so that was the true test. After sometime with the Ever Clean litter and a few potty times we were able to see just how it held up in our household. For me the big kicker was if it could hold up to number two and mask the smell. Which it did! I was pleasantly surprised since a lot of litters do not hold up to our big boys going potty and usually it has to be scooped right away. It was also super absorbent when it came to number one. As for the kitties, they all were interested in the litter and seemed to notice that it was new/different which made them ready to explore. Overall I think Ever Clean is a great product that we will continue using and trying out.

During our test run with the new Ever Clean litter over Thanksgiving break we also tried out Meow Mix wet food for the Holiday. We ended up going with a new flavor they’ve never had before, Meow Mix Pate Toppers chicken & turkey.

With three big {over 14lbs} boys and a little girl finding one they all enjoy can be tough. However once the lid was off they were all begging and going crazy. It smelled like real fresh meat which really got their tummies wanting the food. I actually couldn’t get the bowls down on the floor fast enough for Maggie who was up on her back legs trying to get the bowl. {haha} Usually the boys aren’t the biggest fans of pate however this one they really enjoyed. I think since it was topped with shreds of chicken & turkey it appeared more appetizing to them. They all seemed to enjoy their Thanksgiving meal and I was happy to see the food looked & smelled like real meat.

Have you ever tried Ever Clean litter with your cats?

Purex Plus OXI Review & Giveaway

I don’t know about you, but I dread the piles of laundry that accumulate by the end of the week! Sometimes I wish there were magic laundry fairies that would come along, wash the laundry, fold it and put it nicely away into everyone’s drawers! I know, one can only wish!!! With having 2 small children, 2 dogs and a mechanic husband, we never have a lack of laundry and tons of spots to boot! With my previous laundry detergent it was really luck of the draw if the stains would come out the first time. I would have to pre-treat all the stains, throw the clothing into the wash, and check them over before putting them into the dryer. If the stain came out, great! If not, it was back to the pre-treating and washing until the stain actually came out (it could take up to 3 loads)…and I just do not have the time for that!

I was pretty excited to try out the newest Purex on the market! Did you know that Purex plus Oxi is the most powerful Purex detergent on the market? Plus it works on over 101 different types of stains! Well our family sure loves their stains, so I was very excited to try out Purex Oxi’s stain fighting properties! And who better to test Purex Oxi’s stain fighting properties on then Sir Buddy!

Sir Buddy sure loves his ketchup; he would eat ketchup on everything if we let him! But, 9 times out of 10 while eating ketchup you better believe that most of it is going to end up all over Sir Buddy and not in his mouth! Ketchup in my opinion is one of the toughest stains to get out in the first wash.

I love that Purex Oxi can also be used as a pre-treatment! Normally I buy another type of pre-treatment for my wash! I pre-treated all the ketchup spots on Sir Buddy’s shirts and threw it into the wash, with my fingers crossed that I wouldn’t see stains after the wash was done!

To my shock his shirt and all the rest of our laundry came out smelling fresh, and absolutely no stains, not even a glimpse of a ketchup stain on Sir Buddy’s white shirt! I think that the shirt came out of the wash cleaner then it was when Sir Buddy wore it the first time!

With having 2 small children, re-doing laundry to get out stains is something I just do not want to spend my time doing! With Purex Oxi, it only takes one load and all our stains came out! If you are like me and do not want NEVER ending laundry, head out and pick up a bottle of Purex Oxi, it is the only detergent/pre-treatment you will ever need!

Win it
{3} Three lucky A Little Simplicity readers will each win a free bottle of Purex Plus OI coupon. To enter just fill out the Rafflecopter below, giveaway ends on the night of November 26th.

21 Days to a More Disciplined Life Book Review & Giveaway

I like to think that I live a pretty disciplined life, I love planning, keeping lists, filling in calendars with our weekly menus and activities! But no matter how much I plan, if I do not have the motivation to tackle each project on my “to do” list they will never get done. We get busy around the house, and at homeschooling events and sometimes my lists get pushed aside and then things that need to get done start piling up…and of course the stress of getting to everything starts taking its toll.

I had the wonderful opportunity to read 21 Days to a More Disciplined Life by Crystal Paine. It was a wonderful read and helped put me back on my path of living a more disciplined life. The book is set up to read for 21 days (yes, just 21 days….you can do it!), in each chapter Crystal focuses on one small area in your life that you can change, gives you tips on how to become more disciplined and then gives the reader a little homework at the end of the chapter to help you focus on tackling one bigger project.

My big project was tackling the task of de-cluttering and donating items that we just do not need/use anymore. Over the years I have accumulated tons of stuff, and all it was doing was collecting dust! Each day, for 21 days, I tackled one small area in our home! Since I have started, I have been able to get a great start in de-cluttering our home, and honestly it feels great! I thought that it would be really hard for me for two reasons…

  1. For me to find the time. With having 2 small children, time has become very precious in our home.
  2. To actually get rid of things because I really like to “hold” onto things.

But it wasn’t! And the best part, I don’t want to stop now! I want to work through our home until I am finished with the whole house…even the garage!!!!

Whether you live a disciplined life, you want to learn how to live a more disciplined life, or if you just need that little bit of motivation to get back on track, like I did… I would definitely recommend getting 21 Days to a More Disciplined Life to help you get started! You will be very shocked how easy it is to get started, and once you get started you wont want to stop!

Laser Pegs Review & Giveaway

Have you heard of the new children’s toy Laser Pegs? They are exclusively available at Target stores, where you will find kits, individual pieces, and even a ac power adapter. Laser Pegs are lighted construable kits for children ages 5 and up. A couple weeks ago we were sent kit 470 that can be made into 6 different models.

After we took it out of the package the kids explored and started using their creativity to build. Then Mr.N looked over the manual to decide what model we were going to try building first. Like any boy the alien bug was the one that popped out to him the most so we decided to give it a try.

With a little adult assistance they were able to piece it together perfectly. After it was constructed we turned out the lights to see our final results. Which were awesome, the lights have three speeds; on solid, slow blinking, and super fast flashing. If you had the AC power adapter this could be a great night light for a kids room or perfect to put together to have under the tree for Christmas.

After we played around with the models, we put our thinking caps on and added in some Legos. Which is one of the great things about Laser Pegs, they are compatible with other construable building toys. With the Legos added in we were able to make a Star Wars space craft that looked pretty neat with the lights off. Here is what the kiddos had to say about Laser Pegs…

“I think the toy is very neat and like playing with it a lot. I thought it was very cool that you would build things that light up.” – Mr.N

“I thought the Laser Peg toy was cool, I like how it would light up different colors & it flashed. I also liked that you could connect our Legos to it. I have no dislikes.” – Miss.A

Win it

Playmobil Take Along Soccer Match Review and Giveaway

Recently we were sent a new toy to review by Playmobil, the Take Along Soccer Match. The game is perfect for traveling and easy clean up since it folds up and can be carried around sorta like a briefcase. Once it arrived the kids were very excited to get it out of the box and start playing.

Once out of the box covering there is a little prep work to put it together, mostly adding stickers and placing the goals together. Miss. A helped with picking out which numbers the players received and putting the players on their platforms. After it was all put together the game measures  22 x 33 inch, includes six players and two soccer balls.

When the game was all set up, it was time for the kids to play a few matches. They had a blast playing against each other and got pretty good at preventing each other from making goals. Here’s what the kids have to say about their new game…

“I like it and I am very good at being goalie” – Miss. A

“I think the game is fun and challenging at times to get an exact kick into the goal” – Mr. N

Think your kids would like the game? Enter below to win your own Playmobil Take Along Soccer Match, giveaway ends on the night of October 11th.

Jingit {Cash Earning Program} Review

Looking to put a little extra cash in your pocket? There’s app for that. {couldn’t help myself haha} Recently I started using a new app called Jingit, you basically earn money by watching commercials,  answering short questions and you can even earn while shopping at Walmart. Although you can use the Jingit app while on the go, you can also earn from home on the computer just as simple.

Simply go to the Jingit website then log in with your Facebook account. I liked that since that meant that I didn’t have to remember another username and password and it is quick to log in. After you sign up with your Facebook account info you will be prompted to fill out a little more info and have a code sent to your phone via text messaging to verify your account. {Click here to see my Google + story of my experience}

Right now Jingit has two campaigns open for opportunities to earn cash on Walmart’s website. One for Elmer’s and another for S’mores, by watching videos and answering questions. These campaigns run just the same as they do on the Jingit website and App, they are just on Walmart.com.

So once you log in with your Facebook account, you can start watching your video. I watched the Elmer’s video first, the video was about Elmer’s new app First Day of School. It gives you a brief overview of what the app is all about and how it can help you save all those special picture memories in one place.

After watching the video you will be prompted to answer 4-5 easy questions. Some examples of the questions: Do you have kids? or What is your favorite back to school supply? with multiple choice answers. The video and the questions didn’t take me long to do and I got paid $0.12 which if that was averaged out that would mean I was getting paid $20.81 per hour! How awesome is that?

Speaking of payment, can transfer the cash you earn to a Visa debit card through US Bank or use it to buy music from MusicMe. For me the Visa card is what I will be doing since that means I can spend it on whatever my family may need. At the bottom of your log in screen you will see a little meter that indicates how much you can earn. Right now I can only earn up to $10 per week, up to $15 if I have friends sign up through my share link. You won’t get rich off of using Jingit however it could pay for a nice dinner out with your family or few Christmas gifts.

To learn more about Jingit be sure to check them out on Twitter and Facebook.

Shaun White Thrash Series Skateboard Review

Do your children love to skateboard? How about a big fan of Shaun White? Well Mr.N is a huge fan of Shaun White and has been enjoying his share of learning to skateboard. For about two years now he’s just had a cheap one we got at Walmart to practice on. Recently he’s started hinting at “needing” a new skateboard, a better one at that.

So over the weekend we headed to Walmart to pick up a new Shaun White Supply Co Skateboard from the Thrash Series. There was a display right in the toy/bike area with Shaun White skateboards ranging from $39-$69. All the skateboards looked really cool and were very high quality compared to the other brands we saw they carried. After looking around we decided to pick a Trash series one with the biker design on it since that is more in our price range. {once he gets better at tricks we can upgrade to one of the other Shaun White boards}

When we got home we compared it to his old one and just at first glance you can tell the difference. The old one had much smaller wheels and the deck was also smaller. I liked that Shaun White’s deck was bigger and curved more on the ends. After trying them both out myself I felt more comfortable standing on the Shaun White board compared to the old one. Which in turn makes me feel more compared with the kiddos on it. Although it is bigger & higher quality it still feels lightweight, which is nice since Mr. N isn’t a big guy.

After we played around with it in the house, we decided to take it to the park and try it out for a little family time. Mr. N took it down the hill a few times, getting some good speed on it. While he was riding, a couple kids that live by the park saw him and decided to come watch and skate too. {we started a trend} Since the board was new he was a little nervous about doing tricks but after about 10 minutes I saw him trying to ollie on the new board.

With the heat and the neighbor kids watching we decided to head back home and let Miss. A give the new skateboard a try. She was so nervous about even standing on the board alone but after a {big} pep talk she had the confidence and started getting down the basic moves. If it hadn’t been for the heat I think she would of wanted to spend all afternoon trying to get as good as her brother.

Overall we really enjoyed our afternoon of family time outside and riding the new Shaun White Skateboard. I liked the fact that the board was higher quality then others we’ve had and seen in our price range. I also liked that it was a trusted name/brand, who kids look up to. Here’s what the kiddos thought…

“It was much more faster than my old skateboard and much easier to turn with. I also thought the design was really cool.” – Mr. N

“I liked the design on the bottom of the skateboard. Soon I want to learn how to skateboard better so I can do more tricks then my brother.” – Miss.A

I think in a few week once this AZ heat cools off we will be back to the park trying more tricks. {its so important to get outdoors and enjoy time together} Maybe even soon heading to a skate park with all the big guys.

On a side note I almost forgot to mention that even the cats enjoyed the skateboard! {haha} 3 for the 4 enjoyed laying on it while the kids pushed them around the house. It was honestly too funny, I couldn’t believe that even the cats were wanting to learning to be little “skaters”. I guess its an activity that the whole family can enjoy!

Be sure to keep an eye out on October 28th for a big ad in papers promoting the Shaun White Thrash Board. Until then you can stay up to date with all things Shaun White Supply Co via Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
